Yes as just posted, Blizzard just made a post saying that this is ON PURPOSE and they are intending on keeping it

I'm actually no longer playing this game with these changes

The sheer amount of misinformation I've read about shapeshift IAS today has my head spinning.

I'm pretty convinced with how confused everyone seems that blizzard themselves aren't sure how werewolf skill ias interacts with oias.

Misinformation here or from Blizzard on the forums?

what a disaster

There are a few motivations for this change:

Because of the extraordinary weight weapon attack speed had on transformed attack speeds, high weapon attack speed was overwhelmingly the most important consideration for which weapon to equip. This change should encourage more diversity in weapon selection. (by slowing everything down)

The quirky attack speed calculation was a poor player experience for those not in the know - in particular at lower levels of play without optimized weapons. While this change has reduced attack speed when using weapons with very high IAS, it has increased attack speed for the majority of weapons - especially weapons encountered at lower levels of play. (nerfed the high level play druids)

Well, I am doing my best to understand these changes and especially how these changes are beneficial. If there's any misinformation here that has made the changes seem worse than they actually are, could you elaborate on it? Because to me, this seems like one of the worst nerfs in the franchise's history but maybe I am misunderstanding something here

Oh no, the change to ias on PTR is an absolute travesty. I'm referencing more so people just being confused on how Fury worked before the changes, and how it's sort of skewed expectations.

You are correct in your thought - they basically did two things:

1) slowed everything down to "fix" the high weapon speed "problem" - yeah it will increase "diversity" because now EVERYTHING is slower

2) homogenize the druid experience so that "beginner" and "end-game" are the same when it comes to weapon speed, i mean what? If you want to have your cake and eat it too, THEN MAKE OFF WEAPON IAS COUNT FOR HIGH END DRUIDS

Gotcha.

I am pretty sure this is the first time in my entire life that I've felt actual sadness/devastation at a video game. I am having a hard time seeing how the developers think this is beneficial... it truly seems like they are trying to get rid of shapeshifters, I am at a loss of how to interpret this differently.
