i am working on many setups. vs zons, vs barbs , vs other zealer.
thats what i am building right now. i wanna play this guy right and me asking those question is to understand what is needed in what situation

first of all, are you trying to play on d2r or LOD? the gear availability is much different, but the basics remain the same. (I realize this is the D2R subforum, but I am now lost because you have had mostly people here commenting that dont even play d2r...)

in any case, as jay and others have mentioned, you will need different setups to counter different classes. he is right in that there are fury druids, zealots, conc barbs, and zons.

In general, I think the info you are looking for is this:

vs. zealots and conc barbs, they have high defense. So you will want to do the cookie cutter edc + angelics build to counter that (or, if you're feeling like spending $$, fools weapons & craft rings)

vs. fury druids and jab amazons, they do not have high defense. Instead, fury druids have a ton of life and jab zons have pesky dodge, the best way to counter it is (to put it simply) pump damage rather than attack attacking, so people typically do ebotdz, gface, etc.

If you have specific questions beyond this, that kind of information is found in the zealot guides most likely.

At some point, you should hop into pn/1 and start dueling to see what works for you. If you're talking d2r, things are unfortunately not that simple anymore, there are several different zealot dueling formats that people use which will require you to attain all different kinds of gear. Death is now unbanned basically everywhere, so that is undoubtedly the best weapon for zeal vs fury, for example. There are some formats where fortitude is banned and some where fortitude is allowed, etc.

Another thing to note is that people who are at not at least level 97 struggle quite a bit and do very poorly (zeal, other classes like jab can get away with it cuz dodge), most are 99 at this point

Last time I tried to take over, the zon -def skill and tap vs non tap became instantly legal. If people thought click and hold was pathetic, they shoulda seen you guys squeal and panic when I showed up.
