I don't think I said anything in my original post that disagreed with anything you just wrote so kind of strange to get highly disagreed with but i'm ok with that? I'm not against rules, but when the rules are 16 pages long on a google doc, it's no wonder why there's only a relative small group of pvpers in a game where there used to be more pvp action when d2 lod first came out. I enjoy pvp, especially gm pvp, but I don't think the current "rules" system that's drafted by a small group of people necessarily makes pvp accessible for more players. also i'm not sure there's a lot of diversity in pvp right now?
when people say that this game is only made with pve in mind, that's prob true, but pvp was fun long before the spreadsheet of rules piled on. even those days with hex/quarks/white gloves/rings had a kind of organized chaos even though it made the game vastly imbalanced. when 1.10 rolled out with enigma, players found balance without rules. at the end of the day, I don't think we disagree all that much? it's all the result of us talking about a 25 year old game.
Well okay i agree
I disagreed the fact that you said pvp was inaccessible for new people but you were talking about the 25 pages long rules yeah lol
But when i used to do small tourneys i was just Reading the 2-3 specific rules for my matchups and that was fine enough I never read the whole stuff lol
I never checked my opponent gear i always presumed they were not using 90max res with 50 abs lol
But now for hld i mostly do pubs cause i don't play enough to organise myself with tournaments
Also i'm more involved in melee now but whatever
But i feel there is kind of a diversity in the build you can make
Not much diversity in who plays pvp lol
But nearly each and every ladder season i meet new people that never tried pvp and i use to pvp against them for nearly a whole season long where they learn and get better and that's honestly really cool seeing more new people involved
But since they don't play NL they never end in the discord group for tourneys and such (who I agree are not really welcoming for new players even though some are trying their bes)
