They can’t.

If you use a5 merc its only for their mobility.
They have lower dps than a2 might merc and they don’t have innate aura to share with you.
Could use Lawbringer for decrep, but lower ctc and half less hits per sec. You could put LastWish off-hand for lower lvl might, but then lifetap often overrides decrep.

Ah darn. I run two plague on a5 Merc for my aura din for lower resis proc and it works pretty well

You use self-conv, right?
-150 puts almost all non-immunes to the -100 cap already
So LR doesn’t help much. And it’s only 1/5 effectiveness vs immunes.

If you want to greatly improve his efficiency, give him 2x cmoon.
He will proc static with -150 from your conv and -70 from his cmoons, puting all mobs instantly at 50% hp

Death Decap is best!
Reapers Merc is useless without Enigma.
But Reapers Merc survive much better.
Fury Doodoo get the most consistent damage from Pride Merc.
325%ED with Death is like +2k damage per hit or 10k per second without even factoring Deadly Strike.
Why to wait your Merc to come and proc decrep when you can already kill them.
You can have reapers on swap or in Cube.
Atma is never good options on melee. Only highlords!
5% doing +100%damage vs 35% doing +100% damage - its obvious…

I realize I forgot to answer your 2nd question here…

SS skillers are great to reach certain slvl for werewolf depending on your build.
Its a bit less dmg than a 10max/76ar
BUT
For exemple using self-wield reaper, lvl 30 wolf req 52ias, while lvl 31 drops it to 50ias which is more convenient to reach.
If it does not allow you to use better items than some ias gear you previously needed, then 10/76 are better.
But they’re also much more expensive.
+1SS/7frw are cheap and seriously very great for a more budget friendly pvm build.

1SS = 17% ed, 25% ar, 5% life
And potentially less ias required

For the same reason I believe BK rings are the best option for pvm.
They also give +BO and +HoW, life and leech.
1x BK is the equivalent of :
24% ed, 32% ar, 8% life
Plus 5% leech and up to 49 life (not affected by bonus % tho)

Titan build (all to Str) with good inventory - is the most cruel thing! Semi-titan if charms are not so good.
Pretty standard gear for melee.
Death Decap, Forti, Meta, Highlords, gores, lohs.
With mark of the Bear you will have like 5/4/4/4/6 if I remember correctly.
No need Soe, you already have good leech. Much better is thundergod, IK belt or good blood crafted with Life - all gives 25%-30% ED because of STR.
I wear ravenfrost for AR boost, can’t past it. It’s add a lot!
Second ring - bk if budget. Even common rare or crafted can have more benefits +Str, dex, life, resist, min damage. You best ring would be crafted for sure.

In lower player counts, on all my melee characters, I use pride instead of reapers. By the time the decrep procs, the trash mobs are already dead. Concentration aura makes them die faster than piddly level 1 decrepify that doesn't proc nearly enough.

OP if you don't go hustle on swap, you could use lacerator or brand bow on swap. Lacerator for obvious amp damage proc on strike, brand bow for amp when you get hit (in higher player counts, it'll happen). Which one is better depends entirely on what you're doing.

Not sure max damage charms will add more than skillers.
Depending on total %Ed. In example you have 1500%ed. so it’s like 75 average damage vs 17%*690= ~ 117
