I don't know exactly what caveat, if any, there are to the various methods of multiboxing, but the truth is, once Blizzard merged their software library under a common launcher, they more-or-less gave tacit permission to multibox just about anything that plays through it because they EXPLICITLY endorse multiboxing in WoW, and multiboxing in WoW is also primarily done by having multiple launchers. So perhaps they might get touchy about it if they see you multiboxing
X.exe instead of
Y.exe, but they have very much muddied the waters surrounding that issue, and since previous loading methods were third-party software (literally D2
Loader and its like, etc), rather than launching through multiple instances of the BNet launcher, they have kind of put themselves in a tricky situation. But, I still haven't been banned, and I'm not putting much faith into anybody who says they were and that the only tricky business they engaged in was multiboxing exclusively.
