If banning run counter is considered third party software and cheating, and made it easier for blizzard to ban maphackers and botters without the significant effort to differentiate it, I’m all for it. I can live without a counter. It provides some quality of life improvement but not a deal breaker. Not hard to count runs by naming your games.

I wasn't ridiculing him for using a run counter.. those can be easily made in 5 seconds to anyone who has basic knowledge of any basic coding language. Or like you said, there's ways to do it without using a program like naming your runs or just writing them down manually.

I think even game timers that the speedrunners use are considered third party software. Luckily they play single player offline and thus not at risk for cheating.
