Just because they've been here doesn't make them a good thing, and you do see bots in game. You'd see them a lot more if Blizzard would fix the chat/channel system....
People aren't playing the game because they're gearing up day 1 through botters on JSP; shorter seasons. Any event/season they try to hold suddenly turns into a P2W event instead of having skill/time.

Even without botters there’s always going to be guys richer than you paying to win.
I’d bet the game would be more dead without bots.
1) bnet profits off them - without the profit from banwaves over 20 years bnet may have never had the funds to even make d2r without microtransactions.
2) most people don’t have10 hours a day to pvm - I’d argue the majority of players want items quick and cheap — otherwise bots wouldn’t have any1 to sell to. Its profitable for a reason
I’m sure you sell to/buy from botters regularly. so you’re part of your own problem
