There could definitely be some discussion about this being against EULA.
But this method has been used and shared by Official Diablo Partners since a couple of months into the game release.
And sadly with RotW increased loading times it has become more valid than ever.
which official diablo partners? llama?
id like to try it, but dont have the time atm and skeptical of eula violation. agree that load times feel excessive, especially between acts
ianal but this is what ai has to say:
Yes — following this guide would violate Blizzard’s EULA.
Not because it’s malicious, but because:
You are extracting protected game assets
You are modifying the game’s data directory
You are using a third‑party tool to access internal game files
You are altering how the game loads and reads its data
All of these fall under prohibited actions in Blizzard’s EULA.
Even if your intent is purely performance optimization, Blizzard’s enforcement doesn’t consider intent — only the action.
Modifying game data is treated the same way whether you’re:
speeding up load times
modding graphics
or trying to cheat
Because the mechanism is identical: tampering with protected game files.
