I can only estimate numbers, but in the video you can see the scale of the problem. He even shows video of someone doing this
Step1) on first account write a script that sells/buys the item over and over and drops gold. Very easy because the UI buttons stay in the same place, anyone can code this in 5 minutes in autoit or any automation framework because there's no RNG
Step2) second account just runs in circles to autopickup gold, then gambles rings and keeps items above a certain threshold configured in your pickit
I'm sure there are much more advanced botters who can come up with something better. A janky setup like this can probably gamble hundreds of rings per minute all day 24/7, which is definitely enough to find good items fast
I could see it being a problem, there’s just really never been an issue like this over the 20 years of D2lod that I can remember. I’ve never seen anyone on the forums just profiting thousands off of constant GG rares, I’ve seen a few rares pop up for astronomical prices but those were all rumored to be imported. Everything is usually runewords, level jobs, etc. anyone who usually had an INSANE rare ended up paying $$ for them online from a supplier like cfood
Hybrids didn’t break the game, dupe didn’t absolutely break the game, etc. d2 has survived much worse is all I’m trying to say.. the game has thousands of bots running at any second, that’s essentially unlimited gold anyways, they just wouldn’t be gambling nearly as often as someone who dedicated a bot to strictly doing just thar
Just my 2cents
