Single players using multiple instances isn't making the game less dead.

I would argue people are using these multiple instances to rush themselves, level themselves, populate private games to increase drops and experience, etc for profits... it's not populating the game further with extra people playing the game, just extra instances, which is the whole argument to contributing to queue'ing...

Whenever there is a patch must you re-copy the folder again? or does the launcher update the game in the new folder as well?

The launcher will always update the current directory for the game, I.E. the directory of the d2r.exe you opened it with. You don't have to copy the folder again.

For anyone interested, I made a .bat file that will kill the process using Handle.exe

I don't think I'm supposed to link it, but you will need to download Handle from Microsoft

Are you able to queue both together and connect? I found that if I run a second before the first one connects, the second also tries to connect to the same account and just closes, so I've been queing 1 at a time. Painful.
