If I was actually running anything at all I wouldn't have taken issue with the ban and would just move on to the next account. You think blizzard has some perfect detection system which just isn't the case. You can see people mentioning false bans be overturned in this thread and with some simple googling you can see even more evidence of it happening. I'm sure they have a list of programs not allowed, but I'm also sure that isn't the only detection they use.

They ban for known public hacks, that's true, but they also ban by too many games or too much time factor. There are many private bots, that blizz didn't have a chance to sig/hash, yet they still get banned if they're running 24/7 (which is stupid on botter end). That's basically heuristic, and they might have made an error while tuning the detection thresholds.

Again, not saying that what you're saying is false (because it sounds legitimate enough), just that they don't necessarily feel the need to be 100% sure.

You can never be 100% sure and obviously I don't know everything that blizzard does, but I'm very confident that if blizzard were doing something like that, they would err on the side of caution and never tune it in such a way that significant numbers of innocent people get banned.
