on the one hand brevik hasn't done much of anything since d2/hellgate london (although people say marvel heroes was good), and he's had a lot of shit takes
on the other hand he was the main driving force behind diablo and diablo 2, coded a huge part of both games according to his team at blizzard north, and he was just an excellent programmer -- networking code in c is a bitch and i speak from experience -- and i'll always have some respect for him for that. i remember watching a technical talk he gave a few years ago about stuff like color handling & shaders within d2 and how they made it work with the technical limitations of the time that was very good.
