Yea, only the warlock pets build requires 0 investment. I've done TZ 92 fairly fast with Tarnhelm and +1 on amulet as only +skills, wizzy and shield of diamonds in hands...

But You can get a decent Necro running without unreasonable investment tho.

Holy Fire until it doesn’t work anymore, then respec
to Hammerdin. Shop a teleport staff though, because some monsters absolutely shred a poorly-geared Hammerdin.

Yes, Holy Fire Pala is a good solo starter. With Hand of Justice, Dragon and Flickering Flame rws, You can keep playing it as it keeps doing just fine, as conviction solves most issues. Not comparing it to Hammerdin, but it is viable for quite a lot of hell content.

To new players reading along or just those who are in need of an easier build, this is the mods You want on Hephasto.

The red smokey Aura is Fanatiscm. Must have's is 'Spectral Hit' and 'Cursed'. Fana is better than 'Extra Strong' and 'Extra Fast', but all of them, is optimal, ofc. Hephasto works just fine without fana, but it is a very nice boots as it also boost Your 2 Crushing Blow Goatmen and Your Merc.

Gear Your char for survival only(well and mf/eg where You can - I got 661eg and 287mf on it). So as much life, def as possible and max res. If Your char dies, You lose Hephasto and have to farm him again. No +skills required for this build.

This isn't a commercial for Warlock, more of a newbie help post. Hope it's ok I mini hijacked Your thread with this post, but since I had mentioned the build, I thought I'd might as well make a super short guide. :)

The warlock pet build is overpowered and destined to be nerfed ^ Wizzy and a shield with sockets and some perfect diamonds is all that is "required".

How's the Necro coming along?
