That's not true 95% of the time. In most cases I witnessed in D2R, people just leave the game and the baalrun is disbanded. If it's a bot baalrun, people just join the next baal bot.
Also PvP usually means both persons are involved and play an active role in the action. PK is pretty much 1 sided and only drives the last few people from pub games into private games.
But you do you, for me it's a waste of time and has no positive effect for anybody.

most people enjoy having the option of baal runs. to keep this game alive, keep baal runs alive. accept that your opinion belongs to a minority

Yeah I spent a night doing this a while back, all that happens is the game clears out as everyone goes to leech another bot. Maybe you get one or two whiners but they eventually leave too. Decent way to farm gold tho.
Nobody is getting "hurt" except for bots. The bot keeps making games regardless of PK, people can just join legit non-botting games if they don't want to deal with it. Besides, this shouldn't even require defending, hostiling is an intended part of the game and can be very fun, speaking from experience.
I get duels very frequently this way. You don't just randomly hostile without any plan, that's what leads to boring games. Join a few games and look for people you recognize, or people leveling dueling characters (you can usually tell from character name and gear), or loud talkers
Another good strategy is to go to the terror zone and pretend to care about TZ soloing. Instigate a fight with the guy who is probably level 97-98, more invested in the host, and probably more geared.
