Without bots the game would be dead. D2r aint dead at all just bcuz ber sells for 30fg. Has nothing to do with it.

most games see massive player base drops after a few months. it would be naiive to believe d2r would be an exception, bots or no.

botters definitely accelerate the ladder progression and disincentizes doing ladder at all for many, but the conditions around d2r launch were still unique and never coming back.

There were countless bots day 1.
They were developed and ready to go even in the beta before release.

d2lod never died until d2r release despite tons of bots its entire existence.

Maybe Lack of pvp killed the jsp economy. Or lack of “collectible” gear like .08’s and bugged items.

No one needs good gear to pvm. Economy was still ok in d2lod at the end of ladders because ppl were buying gear for their pvp characters. No1 pvps on d2r

Without bots, d2 lod wouldn’t have survived 20+ years, and there wouldn’t have been a d2r remake.

Blizzard also designed the banning of bots in a way its profitable for both blizzard and the botters. And the amount of cd keys sold to botters was built into the economic forecast of d2r.

You better thank botters as without their outsized contribution to blizzards bottom line, this game wouldn’t have existed.
