It’s really just surface level banning. As they want there to be an ROI received from the person who bought the CD key for the bot, so they return and buy more cd keys for their new bot key after the ban wave.

Banning bots is their reoccurring revenue stream that all companies seek now. They learned the appropriate balance between over banning and under banning. Both sides need to get their ROI or the revenue train from new cd keys sales stop.

If blizzard didn’t allow bots to earn their ROI, D2lod wouldn’t have survived for 20+ years, making d2r likely not worth the effort in the first place. And if they didn’t let bots thrive in d2r, it wouldn’t have been profitable enough for them to do because cd keys for bots make up more than half of cd key purchases.

More seriously, I think that a whole lot of this is going to be in games in the coming years.

I’ve specifically been seeing the opportunity for npcs and llms. Even simple things like talking to Cain let’s say. Imagine if he was able to comment more uniquely to your experience in the game.

Player interactions with AI systems is going to be a major part of the gaming world.

Just think of the possibilities in something like GTA.

Totally untrue. Blizzard only cares about providing its fan base with the best possible gaming experience. Profits are just a byproduct to them
