I like the new system.

Saves time ( 5 min trades tops )
Provides a middle man that holds the fg until both parties confirm the trade has occurred and everything is OK.

yeah, unless they don't. And one person says the trade happened and the other disagrees.

You lose the benefit of mediation done properly. In the old system, if the mediator was not in on it it was a guarantee the trade would go through clean. At this point it is barely safer than not using a mediator at all, because you can end up in the same he said she said situation as without a mediator

I guess technically it is less secure, but it sounds like this only fails if the mediator was 'in on' the scam. The whole point is that the mediator is a trusted guy, and if they say the trade went through properly, then that's what happened. The guy claiming a scam is outvoted by the other party in the trade and the trusted mediator. Does this even really happen or is it just a hypothetical?

I guess there's also more risk of the last-second item swap thing, and that would be hard for the mediator to deal with without being in the game... do people still do that?

No matter what if you're playing on the Switch and you want an in-game mediator for your trade, that's not gonna be easy to find.

They r saying the current mediator trade its not 100% secure,
Cuz person can claim they never received the item.
And he gets fg back.

The mediator in game is 100% secure.

Did this happen to you or it's just a situation you think might happen?

They do say in the PM that you need to take screenshots of the trade as usual to prevent this situation.
In the case that the item has a big value I would even take a video of the trade, better to be safe than sorry!

It prob didnt happent, he is just saying its possible
But pictures and video doesnt help.
Because those can be alter.
U can move items around before you screen shot.
Its kinda pointless imo.

here is the problem; after the mediator receives the fg, there are 4 options in the new system (always assuming the mediator is impeccable):

in the new system
1) seller claims they passed the item and buyer agrees -> there is no argument, fg gets payed out to seller
2) seller says they have not passed the item and buyer agrees -> trade has not yet happened, no problem, will eventually resolve to case 1) 3) or 4)
3) seller says they have not passed the item, buyer disagrees -> mediator free to keep fg or pass it to seller or buyer (kind of nonsensical but not a problem)
4) seller says they have passed the item and buyer disagrees -> classic conflict and now there is word against word. The mediator cannot safely decide what happened. You can provide videos or screenshots and go through a mediation process but there is no guarantee this is correctly resolved. it is now true mediation

in the old world, where mediator holds both fg and item, the mediator acts like an escrow. Case 4 can be resolved safely, no screenshots necessary, no disputes necessary. It was clearly superior.

There is now no advantage to using a mediator over not even using one and simply reporting a fraud after it happened, hoping for it to be resolved in your favor.
