Awww that sucks bro. Yea I used rm offhand beginning of ladder when Cham was pricier. It kinda sucks when you get hit with blizzard when horking on swap, etc.

Never thought about coa for survivability, I think at lower lvls it's a problem but 90+ much less so.

Had a bunch of 14:xx, honestly a lot of rng fishing for 13min time. Had a couple where I was like 50k short and had to start another run lol.

Then I was really close. I couldn't invest much time due to being busy. Being frozen on swap wasn't a problem because I went for the kill with berserk first, stunned with war cry then swapped to 6x lemmed crystal swords. Merc finished them off, being frozen wasn't an issue. I used CoA to dump excess attributes into dex and str for berserk. That way I had 80%+ hit chance with an inventory full of GF charms.

Anyways, rewards were sent to the participants. Let me know your feedback. I might organize more fun stuff in january.

Ammy was: +1Barb/20FCR/60 Goldfind/mana regen/90 Mana
Armor: Wealth
Weapons: 2x 6 lem'd sword
Swap: Gavel of pain
Belt: +80% Goldfind/24 FHR/24 cold res/13 light res/20 mana/4life rep
Boots:+80% Goldfind/40% Fire resist/24% Cold resist/30Run walk
Rings: 2x dwarf star
Gloves: Chance guards

Inventory:

A bunch of +1 War cry/25-38 % Gold find GCs
A bunch of +10% goldfind SCs

The skills were based around warcry - I maxed warcry and taunt, added enough to find item to hit 73% (Turned out to only be one or two points with all of the GCs)


In hindsight though, I think berserk is a lot stronger and don't think I could ever beat Daanno2's time with the warcry build. The aoe damage seemed sensible - especially with amp, but berserk with a runemaster or similar weapon just speeds it up so much. It was also very smart to not use 4 teleports at the beginning - just run to trav instead; saving NPC time. I'm gonna be using that from now on

Nah the gavel build is capable of reaching that time too, but it's got a lot more nuance to it. I saw some of of your clips. Basically you need to try to use 1 charge per run, and know when to skip stone skin PI etc. Or use beast zerk to further increase merc dps and 1 pt berserk for PIs.

Yeah I think if I gave it a better chance to where I was good enough to be able to skip runs to act 4, it would be a lot stronger. To be fair to the build, I literally just ran it once and said fuck it - good enough. LOL

Berserk method just looks more fun though and less finicky. I had thought about trying this because it saves so much time not having to go repair charges at act 4 every run, especially with my super slow load times. Happy to see it's not only viable but potentially optimal! Excited to try it myself :-)

I wish more had played and updated their attempts more often tbh. If we can get more people interested, maybe the thiccer prize pools can entice more people to make attempts.

The thing we can do for the next one is bump the thread more aggressively and try to get more interest from big FG sponsors who just love to see speedrun attempts. I do think the FG is the key for most of us - I'm not normally a speedrunner, but the idea of some kind of prize to win is what made me at least try lol.

I get where you're coming from. I think a a WC gc with 40% eg would entice more people but this late in ladder 1100fg aren't peanuts either

I think it was a very generous and fun event for people with a GF barb.

What I'm thinking though is it might be possible to drive up the prize pool even thicker by offering a buy in option. Like for those who want to compete, make it something fair - say 30-50 FG, then distribute the costs of entry into the prize pool. Kind of like a poker tournament


I think a format like this not only makes for a stronger lure, but keeps the players invested more intensely - since they've already got something to lose in play, as well. Just spitballing ideas atm I'll definitely play these any time they pop up, either way
