It’s generally speaking what happens when any entertainment company is public. They are focused on shareholder value, rather than putting out a good product. Quality goes but fans stick around because nostalgia. And they keep giving them money because they can’t help themselves. And because the entertainment is profitable, the company is achieving its goals and doesn’t change.

There are few entertainment companies that succeed, in terms of quality content, post IPO. Most notably, Disney and Netflix come to mind.

I’m sure there are other examples. But when the move from where the founder / co-founders are the CEOs, and they are creative focused, to where the CEOs are business or accounting focused, traditional CEOs, the quality goes down as they make moves for profit, rather than quality.

And this has been the case since activision acquired blizzard.
