Holy moly, are they serious? For more diversity? The only incentive to play werewolf was the attack speed.

It actually will create more diversity because everything is now slowed down. There's no longer an incentive to remain limited to, for example, the Tomb Reaver. Everything is slow as shit so it doesn't matter what you use - go crazy with all of the different gear options you want - you only need 11% fucking IAS on any of your gear now to reach the breakpoint. The problem is that the build itself is unplayable because of how slow it is. You can't hit anything enough times in PVP or PVM before something kills you. Like, you physically cannot hit anything enough times to make a difference. You will die long before you make a difference to any enemy player or monster's health. Not to mention you can no longer hit fast enough to proc anything, which is something that wolves really relied on

That's how diversity is accomplished, by lowering standards across the board.

Playerbase: Buff melee in PVM so they can compete with caster classes, make more builds viable, fix WSG in PVP
Blizzard: buffs sorc, javazon and paladin the most, makes melee barbs and druids even weaker than before, makes unable to stun in PVP upon first hit

Looks like an even greater divide to me..

Can't we just get the government to subsidize inner city druid programs and call it a day?

it definitely is, but what a strange decision to even make, even with their purported motivation and reasoning - were there not solutions that could satisfy end game and beginners? my intuition tells me they could've figured something out

well they were afraid that buffing druid attack speeds to be reasonable early as well as good lategame would totally break the game because of how super overpowered melee were-druids are in early levels right now already. Just look at how you can slap a 30% ed flail on a druid and run around whacking monsters for nearly 40 damage per hit while sorcs are busy shooting 900 damage aoe fireballs

Currently, werewolf has different animations than a druid and wonky and complicated ways to calculate its attack speed. This also allows for faster possible attack speeds.
Right now werewolf (anim code 40) has animations of:
A1: 13 frames, 256 speed, 7 action
A2: 13 frames, 256 speed, 7 action
S1: 16 frames, 256 speed
S3: 10 frames, 240 speed, 6 action
S4: 7 frames, 152 speed, 4 action

13 base frames for an attack animation is very fast. For contrast, the human druid has

A1/A2 - 1HS - 19 frames, 256 speed, 9 action (1 hand swing weapons)
A1/A2 - 2HS - 21 frames, 256 speed, 10 action (2 hand swing weapons)
A1/A2 - 1HT - 19 frames, 256 speed, 8 action (1 hand thrust weapons)
A1/A2 - 2HT - 23 frames, 256 speed, 9 action (2 hand thrust weapons)
A1 - H2H - 16 frames, 256 speed, 8 action (unarmed)
A1/A2 - STF - 17 frames, 256 speed, 9 action (staff)
A1 - BOW - 16 frames, 256 speed, 8 action (bow)
A1 - XBW - 20 frames, 256 speed, 10 faction (crossbow)

Animations are capped at +75% EIAS after all effects added together, so no matter how much EIAS a skill adds, at some point it becomes redundant. If werewolf attack frames are made equal to druid human attack frames with that much +% EIAS on the skill, and they keep the +75% max cap in place, then werewolf druids are going to attack miserably fucking slow compared to how they do right now.

The funny thing is that on their pinned note they said we should try different weapons LOL, no change at all to Fury, only it is slower now, different weapons have been tested for over 20 years already.

it comes off quite disingenuous, basically saying "its the change, deal with it"

still holding out hope

Devs have no fucking idea what they're doing.

"We wanted to make more builds viable so we nerfed ALL SHAPESHIFT builds, so that they now all attack at the same speed. Instead of 2 different weapons being viable, now there are none. The character now sucks ass because it's slower than a 0fcr zon. Enjoy."
