Really unfortunate that this happened. If I found out items that I bought and re-sold vanished, especially something as egregious and suspect as 10 identical Enigmas, I'd have refunded the gold on Day 1.
The defensive, dismissive, and avoidant behavior by Chobot in his posts following the event is very suspect. I mean, the guy started inserting pictures of inventories full of mass HR's in between non-sensical rrhetoric about the events. Not exactly reassurring and kind of an antisocial response given what he's accused of.
Instead of refunding the gold as soon as they became aware of the issue, they told victims to "talk to JSP" about it. There was no effort to remediate the issue immediately, just tossing people over to JSP as if the problem was someone else's. Follow-up attitude was also giving zero ****s about people affected, and hostilility to people who asked questions on the forum about the issue.
Assuming their story is true, there were so many other ways to respond to these events, including showing remorse early on. One of their responses to a user who PM'ed them immediately after their Enigma poofed was "lol what did you do?".
Zero ****s given.
I mean, while we don’t know with 100% certainty it seems highly likely the dude knew they were dupes.
1. The dude had a bunch of enigmas that are identical in every way. Weird.
2. Proceeded to pm folks trade offers as opposed to posting a thread so nobody could ask questions on defense rolls that could lead to suspicion. Hmm…
3. Conducted all of his trades from a single game so as he didn’t have to leave. Side note, leaving a game and rejoining another with unperm items can cause them to poof.
Throw in his conduct and the fact that he’s trolling mods and it’s hard to draw other conclusions. Idk if jsp feels they have enough to lock him, still probably will. But I guess we’ll see.
