Yeah, seriously though, I've become cognizant of this lately. I stopped using the same game//pass for every trade, and I don't make multiple trades in the same game anymore. This way I can be sure that the person in my game is the person I'm DMing on here.

Yep. I feel like an ass saying “2020 and 2021 accts go first, med or no trade” but it’s in everyone’s best interest. If someone feels uncomfortable they should confirm on JSP PMs or better yet, just use a damn Med.

I got got by ENMONSTER#2983 by basically what you described about 30min ago. I was sloppy and had traded with the guy just before that he was claiming to be. I didn't double check on JSP and was an idiot. 100% my own fault. It won't destroy me or make me quit. Just sucks that I lose some of what I had been saving for a few upgrades.

Shit happens and I was stupid, I'll be more careful going forward.

And on that note, I'm taking my BTAG out of my signature. Just asking for trouble.

Sorry you got hit dude. Glad you are gonna stick around tho. Yeah having your Btag be public in your sig just invites it. A lot of us get into this auto pilot trade mode where we will accept btags to get trades done and not likely realize it until it’s too late.

Live and learn. What he got (Lo + 2 Ists) were farmed or trade ups, I'm not out a ton. Minor setback. The thought crossed my mind that something was up but I was distracted watching Hawkeye.

And yeah, after i read OP, I was like holy shit am I dumb for having that their. Thought it would be convenient but ended up a disaster lol

The thing I find the most messed up is that the victims like yourself will post an S/A thread because they think it’ll get their FG or items back. That’s why they are quick to jump on the post accusing a reputable member of scamming instead of realizing they didn’t pay attention.

It took me about 2min to figure out it wasn't the guy I had previously traded with. I did reach out to the person that was being impersonated and gave them a heads up. Then I went searching for the BTAG in question which led me to here.

I'm perusing the scammer accusation forum and wow, it's rough. I feel lucky to only lose so little.

It's a pretty clever scam, I did report the scammer to Blizz though I doubt they'll do anything.
