I do think I have seen a 1700 max dmg weapon in some trophies.
Either that or got a deja vu because I'm tired

One thing to note tho is before Warlock, you could not just play Ethereal without Zod or Erep.

cracked dagger + base skill and synergies = 5 projectiles with the damage of grief
nerf eth weapons durability tho! /s
