I don't buy the hype on Spear Maidens. Jab is nice but they've been popping like Emilio. Even a regular Diablo chunks them sometimes, lasted <5 seconds in Colossals. I don't think they're worth it at all without a heavier investment to the Demon tree.
to put some numbers to it
heph has 94k hp in p1 / 423k in p8, with 50% dr and 0 regen
tz urdar has 30k hp in p1 / 134k in p8, with 55% dr and 2.44%/s regen (frigid/acheron has 1.15x hp and 75% dr)
tz spearwoman has 14.5k hp in p1 / 65k in p8, with 33% dr and 1.22%/s regen
matrons spearwoman has 53.5k hp in p1 / 241k in p8, with 33% dr and 1.22%/s regen
then you get blood oath which should be maxed on all builds anyway so its ~12-16x the base HP, and another 1.74x the total HP from battle orders
With BO active, my Gulzar has 4000 hp / 0% dr, and my urdar named Blade Blister has 4250000 hp / 91% dr
At some point I think you can reach such astronomically overkill numbers on demons that even lower HP mobs like spearwomen are just effectively immortal. Maybe on a blood boil build being incautious and tanking ubers its possible for her to die where an urdar can't (but heph absolutely would because of his 0 regen). On a non-boil build with max blood oath they should all be immortal in all scenarios, let alone an urdar that regens more damage than any pvm monster in any scenario can possibly deal, hell he could probably tank echoing strike warlocks in pvp for many hits if you didn't let them hit
youTo be clear, I think that you need to be actually spamming boil enough to get your monsters to sub 5% hp from
you nuking them to a sliver of health before its even possible for them to die. Blood boil won't cast if they're below 5% hp, but they could regen slightly above it and you drop them from 5.1% to 0.1% hp and on the same frame they take some massive spike damage, yes maybe they can die. Requires obvious human error
and ridiculous monster dps because even 0.1% of that 4.25 million hp is still more HP than my gulzar has at full health, and that urdar is regenerating over 100k per second
and has 91% dr and casting engorge instantly restores 3.3 million hp
its why echoing strikes builds can get away with using hephasto even though he has no regen and most players aren't binding engorge, because millions of hp means it just cannot die
