I've done that long time ago. And yes I think that or fb sorc is much better suited for p8 tz farming. Should handle herald much easier

Nova sorcs have a really mediocre max dps cap.
You're casting a ~4500 damage spell at 8 fpa. The most possible dps you can do is 28k. Plus some minor merc chip damage. You can get 50% off from static at least, but after that you're at a sad 28k dps
Look at the taintlock by contrast, it can have 2x tainted with 36k at 22 fpa and a lancer with ~25k at ~15 fpa (not so easy to quantify without knowing ratio of jabs) and then is also spamming blood boil for ~12.9k at 10 fpa, and if its bringing something to -100 fire / -100 phys that's about 311k dps.
similar for max dps on mosaic or charged strike

Nova will always suck vs big tanky targets no matter what you do. Fire sorc >>>> Lightning ~= Blizzard > Nova at killing higher hp targets. Fire sorcs get to stack meteor + hydras and then spam fireballs and obliterate t5 heralds no sweat. Lightning and blizzard just deal higher dps than nova, but its still a very limited amount

Yep agreed. I used to do fb sorc a lot for pvm for fun. Did uber with it too years ago.

Gonna respec to fb meteor sorc because if the build cant handle herald then its not a real build now.

I strongly recommend the 2x phoenix build. Yes it loses some dps, but then you have to ask yourself if dps is only thing that matters why not play other even higher dps builds. But 2x phoenix fire sorc has such absurd QoL with what's basically 170 LAEK/MAEK
