If its pub duels who cares. If you are trying to join a dueling community, then sadly you need to abide by their general rules to participate. PvP was never really balanced so GM rules were created and iterated on over time. I think some of the rules are stupid personally, such as poison being BM. Poison has been so easy to counter with like 2 swaps for decades.
Since your question revolves around plague I have a follow up question. Are you WW sin vs WW sin? I don't know the ins and outs about that duel, but I imagine the plague user almost always wins due to mitigating massive amounts of venom damage from cleansing... on top of the lower res being annoying. I tried to get an answer out of
once, but never saw a response.
