I know it’s all still speculation, but I’m already thinking about what it’s worth for me to invest without risking spending a lot on something that might stop working with the next update.
I want to take the characters with me into Non-Ladder.
My goal is to have at least two functional builds for each class. For the Warlock, I’ve chosen Echoing Strike and a Summoner.

Now I’m thinking about how I can optimize the gear.
The Summoner is currently using Baalos Book and an eth Obsession. I think I’m relatively safe here and should still be able to play this build in Non-Ladder, unless Bind Demon gets nerfed so hard that the Summoner no longer works well.
For the Echoing Strike build, I’m currently using eth Insight and Spirit.

The question is whether ethereal weapons might consume durability in the future. If so, Insight would no longer be as strong, and eth Fortitude would also become undesirable—meaning eDeath, eBotD, or eth Obsession might be better alternatives.
But if the skill itself ends up dealing less damage, Obsession might not be as strong for this build either.

So what I’m basically trying to predict is what might get changed on the Warlock in order to estimate which runewords are worth building right now…
An eth Fortitude Thunder Maul would be pretty much useless for ALL characters if ethereal mechanics get changed, while eth Obsession would probably still be good for the Summoner or a Fire Warlock.
I’m also wondering what to do with the merc.

Do you think Bind Demon will continue to allow an aura? If not, an Act 5 merc with Beast and Last Wish might be a good option. Otherwise, I’d still get the Fanaticism aura from the demon.

What do you think? What do you believe will change in the new update?

You are overthinking it… Let the changes happen (if they happen at all), then react. Mosaic was with us for what… 2-3 years?

Did they say whether they want to completely disable Mosaic, also on Non Ladder? Or will it still be working as long as you have some Mosaic Claws? (I dont want to turn this into a Mosaic Thread, but I'm interested....so I could just keep the Mosaic Sin for NL)

my guess is that echoing strike will be changed to the "works as intended" mechanics, which I think would be

- based on IAS, AR
- uses weapon durability
- can be blocked

This would change the build a lot. Needing Ias instead of fcr alone changes everything

I agree... But all of that will happen in 2-3 years. That's how long mosaic took.

Echoing Strike is set as a spell when it should be a melee ability. Definitely doesn't seem intended, but it's ActiVision Blizzard Entertainment we're talking about.

Echolock is a spell. No matter what weapon, you launch 5 x projectiles as swords. I wouldn't nerf that much. All you need is ar hit check and toning down the damage a bit + using item durability. Hit check alone will almost halve the damage.
