Long Forgotten D2/D2R Trivia

Minimum damage indeed is way more important than maximum (or even average damage).

This is due to the way how the game calculates the damage you deal to enemies.

It is not entirely random, but dependend on your minimum damage output and attack rating.

This game mechanic is and still vastly underrated and greatly influences your effective damage output.

Interesting.
So you're saying that if a skill final damage is X to Y, the RNG part of the algorithm is more likely to throw a number closer to X than to Y?

It just means, IF

#1. 10 min dmg - 20 max dmg = 15 average dmg and a succesful hit is guaranteed 10 min damage

#2. 19 min dmg - 20 max dmg = 19.5 average dmg and a succesful hit is guaranteed 19 min damage

over several hits #2 will win

What? That conparison is... stupid lol

If you're using 19min/20max, you must compare with 10min/29max

it's just a simple notion for easy understanding

which is to mean the higher your min damage and a closer min-max damage is better

1 min - 1000 max vs 500 min - 800 max, which is better ? u ask yrself

yes I was about to say the same thing.

Are you saying that somehow a ring with +4 minimum damage will give you more dps than a ring with +4 maximum damage?

Aside from arguments about overkill damage on monsters etc, I don't see how minimum damage could possibly be worth more for dps than maximum damage.

U do NOT always get a guaranteed MAX dmg hit, u get an average dmg hit

that's why min and average damage output is important, it is THE game mechanics
