p1 barb is the best you can get if you can't reliably get a clean p8 (p7) game.
But it's not comparable...
I mean, if you are in a situation where you are a solo player trying to join or fill his games in pubs, then all that time lost will make it approximately even.
But yeah... just not comparable if you don't have to deal with this hassle.

And it's even worse now with the addition of RotW.
You benefit more from running full terrorized games.
Barb shines at a very few restricted areas like trav, but really sucks hard in most areas.
And the player count has huge incidence on the drop chance of sunders, while find item is modified to only drop a very small extra 2nd chance instead of ignoring the noDrop like it does on other targets.

So... play a barb if you have no other choice.
But even if you are just a casual player and you can get 2 friends to join you, already at this point you better just run a 3 man game and split areas so you all get p3/1 drops without delays.

Yea its definitely apples and oranges comparing, but what if you were reliably and quickly able to get p8 games. Does that change the equation for you?

its all about rng, you can get luck out getting 3 shako drop with in first 2 days of ladder or found nothing. where you farm has nothing to do with it

As a p1 horker barb, you are subject to running a few restricted areas like trav.
This means a lot of load times and time spent running in town.
This also means a lot of time spent horking.
Sure you can get approximately 2x more drops per kill (depends on target and FI’s %), but your real effective amount of kill per minute, from lobby to lobby, even if ‘’doubled’’, is still very far from what an S tier build can achieve on p7/1.
Density destroying isn’t very effective on p1 due to the high noDrop% of regular mobs.
The horker barb can definitely reach some potential profit ratio equal to around 1.5:1 compared to other builds on p1.
But this is where I mean it’s not comparable…
If you push your noDrop% from 62.5% on p1 to 14.29% on p7/1, while you can also effectively clear faster and more continuously on a S tier build made for density destroying on high player count… then this 1.5:1 ratio is easily reversed the other way around.

This is how I would roughly estimate the potential profit/10, based on infinite amount of game time to exclude RNG:

S tier density destroyers on p7/1
10/10

A tier density destroyers on p7/1
9/10

B tier density destroyers on p7/1
8/10

S tier density destroyers on p3/1
8/10

Hoker on p1
7.5/10

A tier density destroyers on p3/1
7/10

B tier density destroyers on p3/1
6/10

S tier elite/boss sniper on p1
6/10 -> but 10/10 early ladder

S tier density destroyers on p1
5/10

A tier density destroyers on p1
4/10

B tier density destroyers on p1
3/10

Casual noob doing random shit
1-2/10

The build tier are not the same form p1 to p8.
For example, a javazon may be S tier on p8, but it’s overkill dmg for p1 and drops a lot due to it’s slower fcr, jav management and lesser QoL.
