Hai,
Been off and on d2 since like...2004. Back in the day ladder meant a lot of uniques that were only obtainable on said ladder. Now it seems like it's just elite cube recipes and some runewords.
So I guess I'm asking...why? D2 is the game that got me into arpgs for finding all that rare loot. Outside of that I'm usually rushing people. Don't get me wrong, I'm not judging you, I'm curious. Is it the whole start from scratch? Finding that first good items to sell on here for top dollar?
I appreciate any input.
Thank you
People enjoy starting fresh at least most do, and especially everyone who is even decent-good at it.
Within a week of a ladder reset you can get a level 99 character, with a full BiS build (not perfect rolls just BiS build) off the ground. If you were a non-stop player which most aren't, you could finish nearly double digit characters in that time. And so their challenge is the rebuild rather than any end game content mostly because end game is what? PvP or farming some more? And they killed PvP.
Also it is where everyone is playing if they're playing. At any point in time at the end of the ladder the populations might be evently split, but during a reset the numbers are easily 10:1 in favor of ladder players.
