MLD (Level 49) Melee Test Tournament

In order to progress faster to a Mid-Level-Dueling ( MLD ) Melee community - I am going to host a series of MLD Melee Only Test Tournaments. These are Point to Point duels (i.e not open play) - Yes I am also working on MLD "Standard" Tournaments in the background but that is not going on here. The aim right now is to test the melee classes to determine the strongest/weakest builds, from which we will have a better understanding of where we are right now. With successive tournaments and rule adjustments the plan is to make multiple classes competitive with a realistic opportunity (if very well geared!) to win Tournaments / Ladders. This will be done by limiting either %DR or %Crushing Blow. If thats not enough we can explore further options when we get to that point.

I had considered applying class limitations noting the elephant in the room - there are 1 or 2 classes that without rules are miles ahead of the rest - but I was frustrated in finding practice partners ( a similar issue for MLD open) and therefore I will not at this time. This tournament therefore is going to be frustrating for some classes but I see it as a necessary evil. Ultimately the results here will give us ample reasons to review the Classes. The results here will give us a good idea (and a historic record) of the disparity across the classes.

General Rules

Duels are in Normal Difficulty
No Pots
No Merc's
Point to Point Duels (Inner Cloister recommended)
Melee Only (Smite and WW are not counted as Melee)
No Slow
No Knockback
No Chance to Cast Amp
The round starts once both players have indicated readiness
Eth Items must have the repair mod to be used

Melee Specific Rule

You may not go to Stash during the Match for any reason
(This means no gear swaps, no use of Tokens etc)

Class Specific Rules

Note: this is not an exhaustive list, if you have a build and its not mentioned here, ask in the topic and we can discuss, but please bear in mind - for fringe builds it may be too much of a hurdle to accommodate (Zeal Sorc etc).

Paladin - Zeal as Primary Attack
Amazon - Jab as Primary Attack
Barbarian - Conc as Primary Attack
Druid Wolf - Fury as Primary Attack
Druid Bear - FireClaws as Primary Attack
Assassin - Dragon Talon (Kick) as Primary Attack

Warning: This and the next few tournaments will be Test Tournaments therefore please EXPECT limitations to be applied to the Best Builds (Shaper, Zealer most likely) in future Events.

Scoring

As this is a Test Tournament and due to the nature of the format, these will be FT10 Matches and the scoring will be as follows:

10-0 - 20 Points
10-1 - 19 Points
10-2 - 18 Points
10-3 - 17 Points
10-4 - 16 Points
10-5 - 15 Points
10-6 - 14 Points
10-7 - 13 Points
10-8 - 12 Points
10-9 - 11 Points
9-10 - 9 Points
8-10 - 8 Points
7-10 - 7 Points
6-10 - 6 Points
5-10 - 5 Points
4-10 - 4 Points
3-10 - 3 Points
2-10 - 2 Points
1-10 - 1 Point
0-10 - 0 Points

We can discuss FT format etc after a few tournaments. If Both players die, the round is considered void.

Tournament Structure

This will be an All vs All single group stage - there will be no KO Phase. As some players may register with more then 1 build we will take a users best X results to determine the overall winner.

I encourage players to register, and to register with more then 1 build, in order for as many matches as possible to be tested. Therefore without further ado:

Welcome aboard guys. The likelyhood is that I will start this in about a weeks time (Friday the 4th of Nov) - several players have messaged me to say they are still getting some final bits and bobs, so I will give them a little bit of time to get those last pieces.

Therefore players have until Friday 4th of November to prepare and improve their characters at which point I will ask everyone to post the following for their builds:

4k dmg, 11k ar, 15kdef (25.3k when conc), 3.3k life, max block, 39mdr, 15%dr, 65ias (hlb), 10%ow, 15%cb, 15% ds

whats your min-max damage, whats your precise AR and Def, count it with Conc, precise Life etc ?

So straight away your AR and Def and Crushing Blow would probably have you eat me alive, regardless of the life variance. alot of adjustments to be made :-)

Not at pc atm but they are pretty precise, will get the exact stats when daughter's in bed
