Fellow Friends and D2 Degenerates,
You are hereby invited to participate in a barb vs barb dueling tournament in Diablo II Hardcore Classic Ladder (HCCL) - AKA the OG… the original…
The rules are simple - duel to the death. No Juvs allowed. Think of it as a Wild West style 6 shooter duel. Someone may get smoked on the first shot. It may take 6. No matter what it won't take long, and someone always dies.
Old school … and Raw AF.
Details:
Date: Tuesday, October 13th.***
Start time: 6 PM EST Sharp.
Location: USEast
Channel: OP HCCLPVP
Dueling Location: Inner Cloister.
***Choosing this time instead of Fri/Sat in hopes that the server is less laggy...if you can make a dueler but this time doesnt work, send me a private message, in case we decide to change it.
What is required for those interested:
- Make a level 30 "no title character" (NTC - IE, char has not moved into NM) Barbarian dueler with a weapon specialization of your choosing.
- Dueler will have no points in shouts - all duelers will be provided shouts from a Bo Barb.
- Once character is completed, send me a print screen of the character (proving NTC), along with your account name (or D2 Nickname), via email to HCCLPVP@Gmail.com (preferred), or you can private message me on D2 JSP. I'll add you to the list of anticipated duelers.
Structure:
- Two Duelers will enter private game accompanied by their own lvl 1 looter (to retrieve gear), plus a BO barb (provided), for 5 people total.
- Your designated looter will be teamed with your friends opponent to keep an eye out for Juv use.
- Duel will take place in the inner cloister. Both duelers are to remain inside the boxed area (IE - no opening doors to get into other areas).
- Both duelers must say G before the duel begins.
- After duel, winner is to send a private message to *HCCLPVP to confirm win / share updated number of ears collected. This will determine winner of the round.
- return to OP HCCLPVP.
Determining Match Up:
- All duelers will have their names entered into a random drawing to determine match ups. Once all duelers have had their first duel, we'll move onto round 2, and so on.
- If we have an odd number of duelers left at the end of the round, the dueler with the least amount of ears will have to duel the odd man out. If there are multiple duelers with the lowest number of ears of the remaining group, the name of all duelers with the lowest amount of ears will be reentered drawing to duel the odd man out.
- If we come up with three duelers left at the end of the tournament, the dueler with the most ears will receive a 'bye' duel, and face the winner of the other two duelers.
Determining Rank:
- Rank will be determined based on number of ears collected.
- The looter of the winner collects the ear of the fallen dueler. The looter of the opponent is to provide any ears collected from previous duels to the winner's looter. All ears should stay on looters to avoid them being lost by death.
- Your total number of ears collected will determine your ranking at the end of the dueling tourney.
○ Ex: you're a dueler with two ears collected, and you're facing a dueler who has collected 3 ears. You lose the battle. Your looter provides the two ears to your opponent's looter + your ear, giving that person 6 total.
Fine Print:
- If you use juvs (small or large) you will be disqualified - and laughed at - for being a grown f*cking man, cheating at a 20 year old game. Mana potions are allowed. Health potions are allowed for this tournament, but being evaluated for inclusion in future tournaments.
- Going back to town/exiting the game is a disqualification - unless your opponent agrees to a rematch.
- You will receive shouts once, and then the BO Barb will leave the game. We don’t have all day to wait on you to run in circles. Get busy dueling or get busy dying.
What's in it for the Winner?
- The winner will receive bragging rights and a trophy proclaiming them the "Lord of the SOJ".
Reasons you'll want to consider this tourney even if you're not currently in HCCL….
- Getting to level 30 takes about 3 hours; even less if you make a friend who has a chantress/BO barb. If you build a character to level 30, the HCCL community will do our best to outfit you for the duel.
- You can make a competitive dueler using only common set & unique items (Angelic, Sigons, Bone Snap, etc) that you can purchase cheaply for FG - or maybe even get for free. Many of my duelers use only a single rare - the weapon.
- Even the dueler with the most godly gear can get smoked in one hit if you WW and they don’t.
- No charms, no ethereal, no complexity. Simple and Raw AF.

This is probably assumed but worth saying: this is the first time organizing this so it's probably going to be clunky. Be patient and don’t b*tch. With that said, I reserve the right to remove you from the tournament for behavior that is negatively impacting the tournament. We're all adults - let's act like it. Hopefully this will be the first of many.
