It's more the combination of what they plan on doing with Paladin.
It's never about just 1 skill. It's about what a skill can do in conjunction with other skills.
1) They mention buffing FoH, no idea quite exactly what they mean here.
2) They mention buffing Offensive Auras <- This right here is just a horseshit idea for both pvm and pvp on just about every mentionable level concerning balance.
3) Smite D2r was already buffed on release by being to also surpass Dodge/Evade/Claw Block rather than just normal blocking.
So when all of this adds up, with enhanced FoH, enhanced Auras, Smite that always strikes everything no matter what, we're probably going to get a monster out of this.
FoH forces players to have to run stack & sorb. They have to do t-gods and/or wisp, and in the case of many classes/builds, this denies them of maximum 50% DR vs. physical.
Then all they have to do is add to Fire Aura so they have threatening Light damage and Fire damage, that demands needing to wear res stacks vs both and sorb vs. both.
This isn't to mention that the enhanced Fire Aura is fucking "omnipresently" striking you while the Paladin runs around dodging your attacks making himself difficult to hit at all.
So now you have to wear light and fire stack, light and fire sorb, and go out there against a Smiter that surpasses all blocking & dodging, when you aren't even wearing 50% DR,
and probably don't even have max FCR or IAS for your build equipped, because you have to stack so much goddamn res & sorb to even be able to walk out into the same zone with this guy.
If you try to stack too much fire res/sorb, he can just turn it off and turn on Conviction and nail you with FoH. If you start stacking more res/sorb vs. light, he just turns the Fire Aura back on.
You stack too much vs both, he just goes full Charger/Smite Tele-Smite. Do you see where this is going? By enabling too many skills to be too good, his level of versatility to
essentially alter his attack methods or even defenses to rock/paper/scissor you, becomes transcendent of what other classes are capable of engaging. And we aren't even talking gear swaps yet.
This also isn't to mention the other stupid kind of shit that enhanced auras will allow Paladins to do. Imagine a fucking Hammerdin with all of this new stuff added.
I'm not going to sit here and tell you exactly what is going to happen. I have no idea what kind of exact changes they have in mind.
But if you are a pvp player and have given any of this even 5 minutes of thought, this patch is just scary man.
High % chance this is gonna fuck the game's pvp up, judging from what their design team has delivered us so far.
And we haven't even seen the new runewords yet.
my appologies but that wall of text is a bit scary for me. My question is this - can you still auraswap on d2r? Buffing offensive auras would be great if so
