Discussion:

Knowing everyone uses gaze( ber'd) dungos= 48 dr

Would Sol rune- 7 integer dmg reduce be better or worse than Ber- 8% dmg reduce.

This would only apply on shield side. Me and Guru both think the extra 2% dr> 7 integer dmg reduce.

But I'm no math guru and don't know the calculations to do this myself.

In short term, would using Ber over Sol be a waste of socket space knowing you already have 48dr. And could that socket be used for something else. mainly Shael rune

explain 7 integer dmg reduce

It is base damage reduction Either before or after all penalties have taken effect. Say you do 100 dmg. You'd do: 1/6th pvp penalty. subtract 50% dr. Then you would subtract the integer dr being 7 of the grand total. Not 100% sure if its before or after the penalties, but its 7 regardless of how you look at it.

Idk squat about d2 math and calculations rofl

I looked up some equations.

100 damage -17%( 1/6th pvp) -50%dr - 7 integer dmg

100- 17%=83 dmg. 83 - 50%dr= 41.5. 41.5 - 7 integer dmg reduce= 34.5 total dmg after all penalties

That's a pretty good chunk of dmg taken away. But let's bump it to 5k ga for instance

5,000 - 17%= 4150.

4,150 - 50%dr= 2075

2075 - 7= 2068 ga dmg.

Then you add in the chance of D/A/E and %block. etc etc

i should mention you need to assume 50 percentage DR, for integer dr to be worth anything
you said 48 dr

ignore what i pm'd you back, drinky drinky. that was concerning energy shield theorycraft, and stuff.

That being the most basic standard. But in reality and for the sake of comparing 7 integer reduce to 2% dr.

48dr setup using 1x Sol rune in shield:

100 dmg -17%(1/6th pvp) -48%dr - 7 dr

100 dmg - 17%= 83. 83 - 48%dr= 43.16 -7 = 36.16

50% dr setup using Ber in shield( knowing DR is capped at 50%, no integer DR introduced into equation):

100 dmg - 17%(1/6th pvp)= 83

83 dmg - 50%DR= 41.5

Sol rune wins if my math is correct
