The admins would like to thank everyone for continuing to participate in the GM melee scene on D2R. Our little community has been through many trials and tribulations but we have stayed active and continue to have a thriving community. This season was fun and had many gds despite abrupt changes that were beyond our control (i.e., introduction of powerful runewords, etc.). We will continue in the tradition of trying to have fun & fair duels for the foreseeable future.

Special announcement about what's to come...

The admins want to announce that we are doing a trial run of a new challenge system before we officially begin Season 6. This trial period will run until whenever Blizzard decides to reset ladder. If it is a success, we will implement it for Season 6.
This new challenge system will be points-based and will largely emulate the very successful Korean style of gm melee duels. I would like to personally thank the Korean melee community for coming up with this idea, the spreadsheets, etc.
Here is just a sneak preview of what it will look like, although this is a rough draft and only has the admins on it for illustrative purposes (NOTE: This is likely subject to change slightly before the trial officially starts!!)

As you can see, scores will be kept on a spreadsheet and there will be no more "ladder" system like we currently have. This will completely eliminate the messy dodges, extension requests, being unable to meet up with opponents due to schedule differences, gridlocks, etc. It also incorporates somewhat of a ZPK style option.

This is a rough draft and there will be additional announcements in the next day or so about this trial and when it will begin. One change that is likely to occur from what you see here is that the ZPK format wouldn't really be traditional ZPK - it will have Death unbanned for FvZ, but we are toying with the ideas of still clearing CA, not being able to use DeathZ against Amazons who are at an extreme disadvantage already, etc. Details to come!
