Simple... Don't do in-game trades.. Always make sure you have a topic or at the very least a PM or 2 confirming the trade. People feel safe scamming in-game because there's 0 chance that they will be locked from it if they are careful; and even if they aren't the meds usually won't do anything about it unless there is some corroboration with things on JSP.
I've seen cases where someone was scammed, had detailed evidence, and the one who scammed them used the same in-game acct / char with a documented JSP trade that was a trap (person was in on it and taking s/s for the one who got scammed) - and he was still not locked. The guy claimed his in-game friend was using his d2 account and he was at work during the scam.
TL;DR: If you are using JSP Forum Gold. Trade on JSP, not in-game.
