fr tho. R has gotten real stale since everyone just uses the same shit.
at that point might as well just flip a coin for duels lol

hopefully the bots are going to work and we’ll see more rares stateside.
and maybe some people can stop hoarding what we do have.
and maybe we can also decide as a community to stop selling items to hoarders to collect dust (even if they’re paying the most).

I feel like we arent selling to them. The resellers end up selling to them. We all know of a few people who just.... own a ton of stuff they dont use.

They also have connections to the Asian marketplace that others don’t. Some of them actually duel and use their items so this isn’t about them. Others don’t. It is what it is.

Challenge System - Please Read Before Issuing New Challenges:


- To Sign Up, Post Your D2jsp Name/Character Name/Type of Character

- You are allowed to challenge up to 2 ranks above you, but you must duel everyone in the top 3 to get to #1

- To issue a challenge you must message your opponent, then post in this thread

- A challenge will be best 2/3 sets, first to 6 must win each set by 2 duels

- You may swap gear 2 times during a set and 1 time between each set

- If you issue a challenge and win, you must wait 12 hours to issue another challenge.

- If you issue a challenge and lose you must wait 24 hours to issue another challenge, or 48 hours to rechallenge the same person

- If you are challenged and win, you can issue a challenge immediately. If you are challenged and lose, you must wait 24 hours to issue a challenge

- 4 Day Dodge Rule (Afk, No-reply, No-show = Auto-Loss) 2 Consecutive "Dodges" = Moved to bottom of the ladder

- If you cannot complete your challenge on time it is your responsibility to message your challenger to inform and then post in thread asking for an extension. If you fail to do this, the dodge rule will be enforced


GM Shapeshifting Rules:

- Good Manner (GM) Rules Apply to all Duels (See Below)
- ALL CLASSES ARE ALLOWED! Fury, Maul, Bear Barb, Wolf Barb, Beardin, Bearsin, Bearzon, Necrobear, etc. Just follow GM Rules!
- Shockwave Ref IS allowed but not mandatory
- Using a token mid-challenge is not allowed
- Recasting sage if it dies IS allowed
- Reshifting into Werewolf if you return to human form IS allowed (Only for Druid vs Druid)
- Duel is only over when someone dies
- Duels are held in Inner Cloister or Blood Moor
- Duels are held in Normal mode


Prohibitions:

- Do not use spirits (Oak - HoW - SoB) on Fury Druids vs other Shapeshift classes
- Do not prebuff with +skill items that you aren’t wearing for the actual duel
- Do not use slow
- Do not enchant
- Do not jump
- Do not pot
- Do not use knockback
- Do not stack elemental or poison damage on charms
- Do not use items that emit elemental damage auras
- Do not cast item/torch charges

List of Banned Items:

[Weapons - Rares/Magics/Uniques]

Any weapon with multiple elemental damage types with more than 200 max dmg total of each, or more than 500 max dmg of a single element
Any weapon with more than 100 poison damage
Any weapon that casts Amplify Damage
Any ethereal weapon with no repair mod or zod rune (breakable)
All chance to cast weapons such as Oath are now allowed as long as they don't violate another rule
Death and Grief runewords are currently banned

[Armors]

Any armor that casts enchant
Any armor that otherwise violates the GM rules
Any ethereal armor with no repair mod or zod rune (breakable)
Phoenix and Fortitude are both allowed but cannot be used at the same time
Andariel's Visage is allowed

Additional Rules:

[Starting Duel] - Hold the Shift attack towards your opponent to signal that you are ready, once both are swinging, commence the duel

[Miss-Clicking] - Continue fighting unless both parties agree to restart or redo

[Shifting/Ranging] - Attempting to outrange your opponent by stopping early with the Shift key is not allowed - Click & Hold mouse until both players are in range and swinging

[Gear Check] - Gear check can be requested and is performed by Ref if available. If Ref isn't used, items requested for gear check are to be linked in game chat. Going to stash on gear check request is auto DQ

[Glitched Strength] - Auto disqualification will result if you die and can't pick up gear

[Chilling Armor] - Must not be on prior to a duel - Referee to kill off surviving player with Chilling Armor unless you agree otherwise

[Draws] - If neither player survives the walk back to town, it counts as a draw. No point awarded to either player

[Lifetap Gear] - Not allowed

[Starting Position] - Players can start from any position ("lining up" is not required). Exception: If there is no Shockwave referee, you must start within 3 tiles of your opponent to limit Oak Sages from moving. Attempts to manipulate the Oak Sage into flying into the duel will result in an auto-DQ

To be fair, a lot of this is flipping a coin with extra steps 😊, the fun is mostly in theorizing builds and doing the math, at least for me.

There will always be a build that is the best, the problem right now is that the current build is also very easy accessible, so mirrorring it is quite easy. At the same time many players will never have access to any rares that can compete with ebotdz, or any rares period. I personally don’t see this situation changing any time soon.

I agree, the goal is that it should be fun for everyone in the Ladder, currently it is stale indeed
