The point is that if the #1 spot is confident enough, he can literally beat everyone on the ladder
And it gives other players the hope of achieving #1 without having to run the gauntlet
I’ve been #1 on so many ladders that died because I wasn’t giving up the spot, and the top 4 would become so congested that some of the counters that could potentially beat me, couldn’t make it to me.
So this gives that option that #1 will never have to sit stagnant as everyone around him fears challenging him
And it allows a counter pick to challenge for the spot (if he’s willing to lose it) for the chance to give the ladder more life.
What other rule do you guys want to complain about, smiters get 1 piece of tap because that’s how it was when I grew up playing, and I like barbs having an enemy equivalent to a necro having to face a Druid. Or a Druid having to face a wwsin.
What else? Charges? Get better and kill the oak

My opinion is irrelevant but I'm bored so I'll give it.
I think all the rules seem pretty solid. The "anyone can challenge #1" rule is awesome, if #1 isn't confident enough to take the challenges then they shouldnt be on the ladder. The only issue I see with it would be the top 3 getting jammed up because people off the ladder keep challenging #1 (idk if this has happened yet). Maybe make a restriction so that #1 has to defend vs another top 3 before another lower rank can challenge again or something.
