Austin didn't even D2D... It was definitely poppin at one point, and IMHO Vav always found a way to fuck his own server.
West had a LOT of great players, as did every realm. The whole "tier1" can only realistically define a time period; people quit and others improve.
E: who cares, make another server Jekel etc.
I would
consider it if someone had my patch files, i no longer have them neither does jer/kio. Servers are really cheap now compared to what they were last time around so it wouldn't be a very stressing thing to do. Don't need to be able to edit the patch would just put it up as is and leave it like that just need the "christmas patch" 3.1.2 i think it was. For sure wouldn't start from scratch unless someone knows a good patcher to do the leg work.
@ mil during peak we had 40-80 depending on the day, competitive duelers on at a time for months straight until vav attacked us. Typically about 20-30 of those people would actually enter tournaments on a regular basis the rest just fpk'd and announce dueled because they typically didn't make it far enough to claim a prize. It might be a small number compared to bnet but on d2d 9/10 you played were at least decent* on bnet you might duel 100 people and only go against 1 person who is actually a decent* duelist.
* when i say decent i mean they aren't just easily ran over 5-0 every matchup vs people who do win tournaments on a regular basis, they are able to put up a fight at least and maybe even win with char advantage.
