There would be no need to set a limit because who in the heck would level a ton of characters to 99 just to change a name. Like I said, it is not a "secret weapon" when you change your character name. It is usually because someone finally got a name they have been trying to get. The only thing that is a pain is for the admins to keep up with the changes and update the lists, etc. I am not saying that this is "THE" reason the ladders are dropping off but it is just stupid to possibly lose even 1 or 2 people due to a rule that prohibits something that gives absolutely no advantage. There are a ton of reasons they are dropping off and I realize that. I have been here at least long enough to see the reasons why most did drop off and most everyone had a reason to drop off and could a lot of times been avoided. The bottom line is the game is really old and people are not making enough time for it and not investing money/fg into it anymore therefore with the imports, etc. a lot of people do not stay on the ladder for that very reason (they dont want to invest the money/fg on an old game to compete). As you guys stated for all the reasons that people were dropping off, I fail to understand why you wouldn't just want to make things simpler for the people on the ladder rather than everything being like pulling teeth.
Bottom line is: Make everything difficult on an old ass game = DEAD LADDER
I left because of drama/IMPORTS - I hate to continue to harp on imports, but they suck and keep a lot of people off of the ladder. believe it or not they really do. I really didn't have that much of a problem countering them when I was active but I hated what they were doing to melee as a whole. I am not whining about imports, just saying they are ruining melee. You are welcome to look below my sig and click on the link when I was #2 on a much fuller ladder and surrounded by imports. I used a shako to get there.
It makes sense. People see it like they won't be able to compete with imports so they don't see a point in even joining up.
