I built my sorc for nostalgia, and the ladder is there to apply it in practice. Diablo has a great open interaction on how we enjoy "the game"
People love to trade, acquire, and play dress up. Wallet warrior is actually something that I would define as really difficult in SvS (the ceiling for cost is quite low). So it seems way more accessible, than let's say.. GM Melee (which I also play).
There is a thought on banning an easily accessible high tier item that promotes build diversity and power spikes (think Grief in gm Melee). Maybe we hold a tour with no obsession. On that same thought, I'm totally down for Tal duels!
I think whacky builds are fun for the user, less so for the opponent. Where it feels like you're on a timer and that it's not really a game of skill anymore. (Albeit strategy and skill are 2 different metrics, and could be argued for years on the "rules of engagement". I don't think we need the Geneva convention to happen in the SVS world, though.
Just my 2idle thoughts ðŸ’
Obsession isn't easily accessible, though. You can't even get a fm/fb one right now. Ladder reset will help this, but those will get snatched up in half a week, too.
Obsession lowers build diversity. It's BIS for two elements and 2nd bis for the 3rd element. Take Obsession away, and all of a sudden people are using all sorts of things. But keeping it means play it or lose to it. That's even been all the advice I get, from everyone. "Just get an Obsession!" ("Why don't you have an Obsession?" Etc.)
If the answer to something is to also use it, that's a meta with no anti-meta, and that's what I'm talking about. And due to its inaccessibility, that's why I came up with my Standardized Build idea. But nobody's gonna go for it, so I guess we're keeping the Obsession omni-meta.
But I guess it is what it is. I'm just trying to spark some thought about it, and some discussion. But if we're all just content with how it is, then I'll either get an Obsession or not, lol.
Just talkin' here!
And I respect the people that indeed are having the discussion, so thank you to you guys.
Edit:
Uhhh, but I realize that maybe the posts in here should be kept on topic, which is challenges, so my bad, I can shut up now.
