Modern Blizzard would fuck up any new MMO they released. It wouldn't be challenging, all quests would be designed to be ultra user friendly with abundant over the top rewards, the story would be ultra centric around the individual user making they feel overly important, there'd be no trading, no focus on any form of PvP, and everything would be mindless gated farming focused around being ultra cosmetic rather than functional. Just look at every game they've come out with, every expansion, everything they do now. Also, I wouldn't put it past Blizzard to hire a ton of people to focus solely on StarCraft remaster. It's their OG esports baby that is backed by an entire country/culture. What do the rest of their classic titles offer? Nobody cares about Diablo in particular. I could see a WarCraft 3 remaster emerge though, it's kind of popular in the Korean esports scene.
just think about the numbers. sc remaster doesnt have to be a very big team tbh. Older games dont take as much work so to remaster it it would only be an additional 20-30 people compared to the 10-15 it would have been back in the day. nor do the other games need large teams. they arent on a specific announced deadline for any one game so its not like they cant split that number of new hires along with senior staff around to each title. your right tho about them making another mmo, look at destiny 2, they straight up took rifts from d3 and implemented it into a shooter. and we all know how garbage the concept of rifts are in d3. so they polished a turd and re-marketed it as gold as they have been doing for a while now. Overwatch is the dumbest esports thing ive ever seen, its like fps dota with a side of elton johns closet. ive never seen a game creator use so much color on an fps it looks like a cartoon. All the new title blizzard has had aside maybe Hearthstone have been recycled ideas from older titles or recycled ideas with a twist. We can only hope blizzard will take the advice of the community and bring player trading back to the scene aswell as decent pvp and various other steps back to what they were before wow.
