--- me
got a bit confused by the ft5 rules on a challenge and just to clarify I figure id bring it up here since we may not be the only ones who get confused by this
So i was always under the impression that a challenge is basically ft5 unless the person not hosting the game loses and feels they would perform better in a game they host, at which point you do ft5 in their hosted game as well, however now that i am re-reading the rules it looks like the correct way to do this is for the
challenger to make the game(so in this case 4thbro the challenger made the game) and i won that one 5-3, so technically the duel would just stop there, but if I had lost say 3-5 then I would have had the option to ask for a second set in a ng that I was hosting? At which point I would have to beat him 5-3 because if he got up to 4 wins in that second game then the score in the two sets would be 9 to my 8 (if i got a 5-4).
Sorry If I wrote this in a way that confuses anyone, I hadnt really looked at it that hard before I had just been kind of going with the flow and I remember now that in my first few duels we just did ft5s because everyone was okay with the ping situation... but it seems like it would be good for us to clarify this if this is incorrect!
I have copy/pasted the relevant rules here just for ease of access:
Due to server differences: Duels are best of 2x ft5s.
-Duels take place in both user's games, 1st set of 5 in defender's game/server
-Remainder duels in challenger's game.
-IF one user obtains enough wins in which the other user is unable to tie/win, they win the whole set. (ex: 5-2 1st set, 3-0 2nd set)
-IF defender wins in 1st game (challenger's game) the match is over and defender wins. (You lost with advantage)
-IF there is a tie (ex: 5-2 then 2-5), start over with ft3s but starting in current game (challenger's)
-IF a tie continues, defender keeps spot and duels are over.
**Keep in mind, these are default rules, the 2 duelers may agree to different rules.
Finally, since
thought there would be 2 sets and may have dueled differently on that potential 5th win for me, id be happy to redo the entire challenge with ya brother! Will count those as fun practices!
EDIT --- i am seeing another confusing part in the rules where it says the 1st duels take place in the defenders game but a few lines down it is saying if the defender wins the 1st game (challengers) game then the match is over and the defender wins, so it seems kinda both ways there?
