Does the mana pool of an ES fire sorc charge faster than a ES light sorc? How do you know? Well let's see:
Let's assume we're working with two ES sorcs, both with a mana pool of 2500 points. Let's also assume the average level for Warmth is 45 for an ES fire sorc and level 36 for an ES light sorc.
The mana regen rate equation for warmth is 12x+18, where x is equal to Warmth's level.
So a level 45 Warmth gives 558% mana regen bonus and a level 36 Warmth gives 450% mana regen bonus.
For calculating mana regen PER SECOND, we use this equation: MaxMana * (100 + BaseRegenRateBonus) / 12000, where MaxMana is your sorc's max mana pool and BaseRegenRateBonus is the sum of all mana regen bonus from Warmth and other items that give mana regen bonus (I'll be excluding bonus from items, since it is so trivial).
That gives us with these two results: an ES fire sorc regens 137.08 mana per second and an ES light sorc regens 114.6 mana per second. Pretty close right? Let's see how long it takes to do a full mana charge up
2500/137.08 = 18.24 seconds for a full charge up and 2500/114.6 = 21.82 seconds for a full charge up. So a fire sorc will fully charge her mana pool 3.58 seconds faster than a light sorc. And seeing how defensively svsers play, that difference in time is almost negligible.
But wait, it doesn't stop there. What about Thunderstorm? I'll omit the math from this part, but the TS from an ES light sorc will deal 350 damage per hit to another ES sorc's mana pool, and an ES fire sorc will deal only 150 damage per hit.
Just stay away from ES sorcs and go vita.
Seems like a catch 22.... esfb seems to have an advantage over vita, yet es light or cold has no chance.
I think you all are missing the real point, though, the mana regen% is minor. The real distinction is that fb sorcs have the ability to get es without sacrificing significant damage. That is definitely not the case with light or cold.
Proof: most vita fb pump all their extra points into TS. Es cold sorcs have to sacrifice points from their synergies, and the same can be said for light sorcs.
So clearly, the rules are not customized to truly accommodate every build. Which is very evident if you follow the top 3 of this ladder in the past. I also cant wrap my head around why an es sorc can spam mana pots when their mana already regenerates.
Just my 2 cents
