check my profile
1) The plural of box is boxes, but we couldn't possibly call a herd of ox, "oxes", we have to say oxen.
2) One fowl can be a goose, and many geese, but who could say the pural of moose is "meese"?
3) You may trap one mouse, or many mice, but don't dare say "hice" for more than one house, and for us in Utah we typically have one spouse for cooking and sex, but we have many kinds of spice for cooking and a few spouses for sex.
4) If the plural of man is men, why can't pan be "pen", or fan "fen", or can "cen" ?
5) The shop-girl can help me try on a sandal on my foot, or both feet, but if i want a boot, would a pair be "beet"?
6) "Doubt" is spoken one way, but "thought" in another, though both have the same diphthong, and "aught" rhymes with thought, though the vowes are entirely different.
7) If masculine pronouns are he, his and him, why aren't the feminine ones she, shis, and shim ?
/e jelly of our language awesomeness?
