Regarding the ladder itself here are ladder rules.
So base on that you can challenge an opponent which is one or 2 spot over you. -> tips1. challenge the team-comp with which you will have advantage.
Teams can't challenge one which is already in the challenge. You have 5 days to finish your match -> tips2. use this to dodge your counter team. If you see the counter team coming and reaching a spot 1-2 below you, challenge a team over you and delay the match. In the 5 days time your counter team below you may lost to other team or they may be in the challenge during your open , cooldown time.

‣ Team format: 2v2
‣ Map: The Blood Moor, bridge map, without box
‣ All matches will take place in Europe region
‣ DCL rules apply to all duels.

‣ To issue a challenge you must post in thread, then pm your opponent.
‣You can't challenge the team which is already in the challenge.
‣ If your team lost the match, you will have to wait for 24h before challenging anyone, or 48 hours to rechallenge the same team.
‣ If you are challenged and lose, you must wait 24 hours to issue a challenge.
‣ 5-Days Dodge Rule. After a challenge has been posted, it will stay open on for 5 days.
‣ If the defending team does not accept the challenge, or the match does not take place within 5 days of the initial post, the challenger will automatically win the match due to the "dodge rule."
‣ If you cannot complete your challenge on time it is your responsibility to PM your challenger to inform them and then post in thread asking for an extension. If you fail to do this dodge rule will be enforced.
‣ If you want to change your team composition (e.g. charge one of the character build) you will need to start the ladder again from the lowest rung.
