yeah man, its one thing you grabbing items, it's another holding up the tournament so you can get better gear. I fought and lost in the first round because I hadn't gotten a death yet.

Nah man its not cool, it would be one thing if you asked, but you said in the Tournament yesterday or today because of your kids, and now you're saying tomorrow for upgrades to your character. If you did this to someone who wasn't me I'd give them the win for a dodge without question.


Really? That's ridiculous. Waiting an extra day so somebody can buy an item isn't a dodge. It's been less than 48 hours since I advanced, I think that's pretty reasonable in terms of completing duels in a timely manner.

Thought I had that last tourney in the bag and I don't intend to let this one slip so easily ^_^ take it as a sign of respect rather than some kind of offense.

I didn't hear back about a time tomorrow. I'll be avail most of the afternoon after 2pm PST / 5pm EST

Perfect, future reference to anyone joining the Melee ladder after the tournament you pull this and its an auto DQ, gear upgrades are not an acceptable reason to delay a duel. Period.

I think putting a limit on acceptable reasons is foolish. You will just get people being dishonest about reasons.

A better rule is a time limit from the challenge to get the duel done. And then a process to determine who gets the L for dodge.

Tbh though those time limits did speed the ladder climb up but also made a lot of ppl drop out because they couldn't commit the time to get duels done within 48 hours every week.

So some kind of balance is best if you're looking to grow the community numbers. I would sacrifice efficiency for volume IMO
