As per the conversation Garcia and young are having in the wrong thread. I personally think that you should not be able to drop a challenge. As has been mentioned. Yes it would mean that if someone wanted to drop a challenge because they have to go out of town, i.e. Garcia does this often (nothing personal to you bub). It would completely put an end to things like what Gerbil did. Yes, making a 6 hour down time to being able to challenge again is nice and all, if you are doing it to not get challenged, the 6 hour thing doesn't really do too much. Example

Dueler 0
Dueler 1
Dueler 2
Dueler 3
Dueler 4

Dueler three doesn't want to get challenged so they challenge 1. Dueler 4 challenges 2. Dueler 3 can drop the challenge and wait the 6 hours, rather safely more often than not due to many of the duelers on this ladder have busy schedules and 6 hours is a short amount of time. A majority of them might not even be on during that time frame meaning that before someone can challenge him and punish him for abusing challenge dropping he could have already dropped the challenge, then challenge dueler 0. With luck he could do this all the way to the top of the ladder while staying ahead of dueler 4 and never having to actually duel him

Also, if we rid ourselves of challenge dropping, we can still have the option to PM a med for permission to drop a challenge to free up the defender if you will not be able to fulfill the challenge. Example, If garcia needs to go out of town he can pm a med to drop his challenge and give him vacation because he has to go out of town. The med can approve this and the defender won't be stuck.

Just a thought. I am bored at work.

Yes I am aware that could happen. But like I said. Many of the duelers have a busy schedule. That is reliant on a single person (the only person that can challenge him) to A. Not be in a challenge, and B. get on during that 6 hour time frame and see the drop.
There is a higher chance in my opinion that the person won't see it and will not be able to punish dueler 3 for trying to manipulate the current setup. My proposal doesn't really have a negative side for anyone except the person trying to take advantage of challenge dropping

As long as it's relevant to the ladder it shouldn't be a problem.

this has already been discussed and resolved.
withdrawing/dropping challenge = loss
you must wait 6 hours.

You clearly didn't read what was posted.

"I personally think that you should not be able to drop a challenge. As has been mentioned."

Obviously, I am aware that it was discussed. Also if you had read it then you would not have bothered with that post...

people should absolutely have the right to withdraw/drop challenges.
if some one doesnt have the time to duel why shouldnt they be allowed to drop/withdraw the challenge to save the other party's time.
no point in having it drawn out to a null duel.
