we didn't get into a lot of melee exchanges. i think i hit someone with a satisfying coup de grĂ¢ce impale once.

my sentiment is we should continue to allow strafe and impale to be part of the repertoire. the overall zvz experience is true to the established/legacy style, which i think we should continue to preserve, while also reaping the benefits of the dev's efforts, unless problematic/egregious. everything zvz-related feels dialed-in this patch. i don't think we're making any compromises by allowing impale + strafe; there isn't any perceivable downside. since the lion's share of zvz is GA+multi with some fury+bolt and an occasional dusting of jab, impale, strafe, the change is subtle in the grand scheme of things, while affording us some novel action.


if we end up in a situation where most players want to keep impale/strafe enabled but a few players are adamant about playing without impale/strafe, i'd be willing to give them the option of disabling these abilities in ranked ft5: if both players agree to using impale and/or strafe, both can use, but if one players doesn't want, it's disabled for both players. this basically allows for the majority to be happy while being charitable to the minority position.

also open to deferring making any kind of decision on this for months while people feel out the patch.
