Voting by all the current members of the United Ladder to see if they want the new guys to merge interweaved amongst them or at the bottom sounds like a good idea to me too.

Since this is a ladder for the community, not for personal pride or gains.

My Suggestion actually will be:

Members on the ladder Overall melee ladder get until this Sunday to decide if they want to be part of the nonlad United Ladder once ladder resets. Steve can probably do a headcount for this easily.

As for the Ranks merger.

Nonlad zealots will keep their ranks, but with a twist:

The current #1 on United Ladder will remain as #1, but #2 will become #3, and #3 will become #5.

Why?

So we make the nonlad members now hold the odd number ranks, like below:

The missing even number ranks will be inserted with Overall Ladder members in the correct sequence as per ladder before reset.

This is an idea of a compromise between combining and starting from bottom, but again nothing has yet to be decided. ( i think i am beginning to sound more and more like Bashiok )

i like your idea to some extent heng but i think you are being too nice

in my (non-biased since im on neither ladder) opinion i think ladder should have to sign up and start at the bottom just like everyone else did. BUT i also kinda like the idea that they should be allowed to challenge the person whose rank they held ONE time (ie, rank #1 on ladder could issue one challenge to #1 on nl for their first challenge, but if they lost they would have to climb up there again) Im not realy sure there will be a right answer on this one because there isnt really a totally fair way to do it, either way i think some people will end up being offended but that is just my opinion :thumbsup:

I would just like to keep in mind that this is just a game and we have created new melee ladders before as well as Blizzard resets

I suppose my first question would be to those who have been Admins on ladders before - what they did, what worked well, what did not? (Ok, thats like 3 questions )
I would like to gather intel from past Admins' experience, then see how we could possibly merge or reset the present ladder(s) to best accomodate and please everyone. I realize this will probably be impossible, for it is always impossible to please everyone - but we will try

In the past it was kind of different since the melees on ladder didn't usually join ladders outside of their clan ladder (or at least none that I can remember) so it's hard to say. But if they did they would have been placed at the bottom regardless of what their rank was on their ladder. However from time to time the melee ladder itself would be reset to keep things interesting and prevent a dead ladder. Although that didn't happen to accommodate anyone although it is another option.
